Hi Friends,

Yet another simple podi recipe which goes well with idli/dosa/rice.It’s my grandma’s recipe and very easy to make. I generally keep a good stock of it and comes to my rescue on difficult days.Check this out for sure!

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
No of Servings: 12

Ingredients:

Chana Dal: 1 cup
Urad Dal: 1 cup
Coriander Seeds: 4 tbsp
Curry Leaves: 1/2 cup
Mustard Seeds: 1 tbsp.
Turmeric : 1 tsp
Asafoetida: pinch
Tamarind: 1/2 lemon piece
Red Chilies: 3-5.
Oil: 1 tbsp.
Salt: As per taste

Method:

  • Heat a pan and dry roast chana ,urad dal and coriander seeds in it.
  • Add red chilies, curry leaves and dry tamarind to it.
  • After getting nice aroma, turn off the heat.
  • Let it cool down for 15 mins.
  • Blend it in mixer along with salt.
  • Heat a pan with 1 tbsp of oil.
  • Add mustard seeds, turmeric and asafoetida to it.
  • Turn off the heat and transfer the mixture to blended powder.
  • Blend it once/use whipper.
  • Serve it with hot rice and ghee.
  • Store it in an air tight container.
